Project Description
Trainspotting is somewhat of an iconic cult book and film. For this production the brief was 'Grim, make it really grim'. I wanted to create a lot of texture on stage as well as use side lighting to heighten atmospheres on stage. The actors never left the space, they retired to their piece of deck and this allowed the use of heavily stylised spots over them. This was used for when they delivered lines as well as to break up scenes and moments of tension. I was very happy with the results of this design especially when combined with haze that set off its grim and hopeless feeling.Photos: Tom Williamson
